Some 138 jobs are to be lost as Hormann Electronics has announced it is to close its Cork facility by the end of the month, it emerged this afternoon.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan TD, said the affected workers would be a priority for the Government and state agencies.
“Enterprise Ireland and FÁS will work with the employees to ensure that replacement jobs are found for the workers. Training and other supports will be on offer, including information on small business start-ups,” said Coughlan, who promised that IDA Ireland will continue to work to attract new investment into the region.
Hermann Electronics has had a presence in Cork for 30 years. It was put into receivership last week and the news that it is to close was confirmed to employees today.
