Eircom awards 25m contract to Capita

UK firm Capita Group has won a contract worth approximately €25m over five years to provide contact handling and directory enquiry services to Eircom.
Capita staff will base themselves in Eircom’s Cork call centre. Eircom’s directory enquiry operation handles over 40 million calls each year.
“This deal puts in place a new flexible operating model that will deliver an even better directory enquiry service for all our customers,” said Cathal Magee, managing director, Eircom Retail. “Capita has been selected for its strong track record in providing cost-effective call centre solutions across a number of industry sectors in the UK and Ireland.”
Eircom has a number of existing contracts with Capita for sales and service call handling.

The Capita Group has over 29,000 employees at more than 300 offices across the UK, Ireland and India. The company is quoted on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE100 with revenues for 2007 of £2,073m sterling.
The group’s business encompasses customer services, financial services, human resource services, software services, systems and strategic support and property services.
